what I learned today

As I sat at a stop sign today I glanced sideways and noticed a sign stuck in the ground that read "Everyone between the ages of 50 and 90 is eligible for a pre-paid burial fund".

I don't need a reminder that I now fall within the 'upper age' policies and offers.

I am not writing this to be depressing or complain.  If I died tonight I have lived an amazingly full life.  I cannot even think of what else I would shove into it.  I am very thankful.

BUT, how can it be that I am now so old that I am expected to plan my funeral and pay for things in that regard...don't think so.  Feels kind of like giving up prematurely.  Or does it demonstrate good stewardship especially toward those left behind?   I cannot decide which.  I don't want to decide which.

Meanwhile, I'm not driving that way ever again.

I'll just pretend I never saw it.
