weekend report

As I worked on the details of this weekend a few weeks ago, I had no idea what would end up filling this weekend's services.

In addition to the elements of the services, the regular elements like worship, prayer, words of encouragement from our worship leaders and the congregation lifting their voices as one - there was a big difference.  We had to give some of the time in our services to discuss difficult things.

And the part that was shocking to me, the thing that made it different than any other weekend was that it involved my family.

I've never been more proud of our Lead Pastor Dave Vance as he took charge and lead us gently through what was a very tough moment.  It was a moment of calling sin - sin.  And a moment of asking for confession for sinful decisions - and it was a moment of speaking about the process of personal restoration with the Lord.

I cannot imagine how anyone in this kind of a hurtful situation survives without fully leaning into the Lord.  Man can fool himself into thinking he's in control, that it's he who decides how long he continues in sin.  But it's Almighty God who decides when that sin will be revealed - and it has been.

We don't have to know exactly what our daughter's future may hold, but we know this, our family's trust is in the Lord and our faith will not be shaken!

I was also very proud that our praise team carried on and lead us well, they will never know the depth of my appreciate for an excellent 'normal' worship service followed by Pt. 2 of our For Our City series teaching by Pastor Dave.

I believe it's about to be the most amazing, God-miracle filled season of ministry that Crossroads has never seen!  God is good!

For Our City

The series Pastor Dave begins this weekend is called For Our City.  I'm not sure there has been another series he's lead that he's been more passionate about.

He is not satisfied with success between the 4 walls of Crossroads, he intends to lead us into changing our entire community for Christ!  And the Crossroads leaders believe with all of our hearts 

that is what God is about to do!

Imagine our Mansfield, once made fun of as a place where no one would want to live, vibrant and full of hope!

I'm not referring to physical restoration, but a mighty, supernatural spiritual restoration!

This spiritual restoration can begin to happen as we offer physical help, as we love and give unselfishly, opening the door to share our faith.

We can no longer stay silent with our personal relationship with Jesus unknown to those around us! Our community must see by watching how we live, how unselfishly we serve, that this relationship with Christ is what's missing in their lives.   It's the very thing they long for, even though many don't realize this yet.

Now is the time to step up and reach out from our safe, beautiful church to become like we never have before, a community church as our title suggests.

It's time Crossroads - to live For Our City!
