disrupted sleep

When my sleep is disrupted it can be any number of things:

-Vern needs to go outside
-Eating too late at night
-Snoring from dog or hubby
-Loud storm
-Bad dream

This morning at 4:00 I absolutely could no longer sleep!  Very disappointing after being in the car over 10 hours yesterday!

So I got up and made coffee and worked a little bit, knowing I would be exhausted by the end of the day with 3 meetings today and various tasks ahead of me.

As I'm winding up some work right now, I wondered if there was far more to accomplish then a couple of early morning tasks.

So I began to pray and ask the Lord to be pleased with my day.  It's amazing when we're obedient and quiet our hearts what He brings to our attention.  I'm not claiming any mystical revelation - more like an 'abiding in Him' quiet focus.

Psalm 46:10  "Be still and know that I am God..."

I think the context of this was when God needed people to 'stop trying vainly' to accomplish and let it be obvious that this was going to be something only God could do.  It's interesting that God asks for our quietness - to step aside so He can work.

I SO want to be still enough to hear God's leading - and then to trust Him completely today!

Will you be loud, or quietly abiding today?

not a good patient

Being sick is NOT in the plans!

I admit it - I am a very bad patient. I don't like to be waited on (good for my husband), I don't like sympathy and have too much to do to be sick!

So...here I sit wiping my nose and popping vitamins and wonder whether I have to go to the doctor or not!

This could potentially be the busiest week of my life - second only to our daughters wedding last summer! So - terrible time to be sick.

So why? Of course a cold gives me no room to complain when there are so many around me really suffering. This puts my little problems into perspective and makes me praise the Lord for His ongoing protection of our health. So, I'll try not to whine too much and focus on the coming week. Got to go - need to sleep!

Stay well!

amazing night of worship

Seriously - one of the greatest nights we have had for quite some time! So blessed to worship with brothers and sisters in the Lord!

I planned to just slam this post with tons of glorious pictures that I so spectacularly took and much to my dismay found out that there was no media card in it!

So you just have to settle for me telling you it was fabulous! And I will post the link so that you can see what you missed by watching it on our website later this week.

For now I MUST sleep - I am completely exhausted and tomorrow we must prepare for the weekend services! God bless!

my day off

Running. That described it! Running around from morning until night...

Tomorrow I get to be home the entire day except for a massage - cannot wait!

God has always granted me such amazing health. But, I have never had as much discomfort as I have had the past month with carpal tunnel type problems in both hands! So painful and nearly impossible to get any sleep. I drop and break things constantly. Really weird and sudden.

When I suffer even a tiny bit - it causes me to remember the kind of never ending pain some people live with. I cannot even imagine how discouraging that would be. It is good for me to get a glimpse of what others go through.

I am hoping the massage therapist can work on my arms and give me some relief tomorrow. And beginning now, I will pray more for those I know of that are suffering.

Do any of you have a request I can pray for?

my day off

Yay for a good nights sleep!

A few posts back I talked about Christmas details being completely finished up and put away...I lied. That is why you should never post before you actually do something! ha ha Today I finally took my last few decorations down from the tree and packed them away. Don't worry we had an artificial tree! I like to lay them all out, then individually wrap them.

Pathetic: I just found a gift that we overlooked still under our tree for my dad! Brother!!

We get to eat at my parents house tonight, always a lot of fun so I am looking forward to that. Meanwhile we will just enjoy our day - working around the house with HGTV on - the channel I am completely addicted to.

I am thankful for my day off, especially when the schedule is not overwelming!

didn't sleep at all last night

What a Saturday night! I think MAYBE I got 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep!

First, put 10 college students in a house and immediately it is full of eating, laughter and blankets everywhere!

Second, let my daughter go shopping and come home and spread it all over the dinning room to show everyone each tiny item she purchased. But, definitely wait until 3:00 in the morning to model your new high heeled boots on the wooden kitchen floor right out side your mom's bedroom door!

Third, everyone finally settled into bedrooms about 3:30 a.m., then the dog decides to go hunting! We have a lab that just lays around outside on our deck all day. But every once in a while he decides to run the woods right behind our home, (directly behind my bedroom). So after being awakened twice by his barking, I tried to crawl out of my bed and yell out the window. What I forgot was that I had the ironing board sitting between my bed and the window. I almost knocked the iron right through the glass in the dark! I finally found the locks on the window, opened it and yelled at the dog. He came down from the woods and looked up at me. Back to sleep! A half hour later he was barking right outside my window, so I finally got up and went out on the deck in total darkness and almost fell down because it was so slippery with frost. (We live in the very coldest spot in Ohio!) I whistled and called and happened to look up.

Did anyone see the stars last night? I almost forgot what I came out to do I was so mesmerized!! I swear it looked like I could reach up and touch them. I wonder if God thought I needed to see His stars at 4:30 in the morning? They took my breath away and I praised Him! I remembered my mission and started calling again and finally heard the dog crashing through the woods toward me. I told him to sit and stay!

The final two hours of sleep were uneventful, but I hit the snooze alarm and was a little late for church. I managed to stay awake , participating in worship that was amazing, and I am now on my couch ready for a nap and looking forward to sleep tonight!
