weekend report

This weekend was a crazy combination of enjoying the outdoors, praying for and watching our team in Nepal as they consider another Mission partner, chasing mice, enjoying grand-babies but mostly just thanking the Lord for letting me still be a part of the crazy life-changing ministry of Crossroads!

Take a look!

Our team visiting Nepal - pray for God's leading as we consider a partnership.

Time in the great Fall outdoors with popcorn bags as big
as my grand-babies - precious times!

3 Staff members trying to catch a wee-tiny baby mouse, just
minutes before we needed to turn our attention to the services.

I took this picture of people coming and going at Crossroads this weekend.  Not
a single week passes that I don't praise the Lord for all of these precious people
He just keeps bringing through our doors! I just get overwhelmed with love and concern
for them spiritually!

This precious sister in Christ is bravely facing cancer as it ravages
her body.  She asked to be baptized after the Saturday service.

I don't know if there was a dry eye in the lobby...she'll never know how blessed we all felt
to be part of this beautiful moment.
As you can see this weekend was full of thankful moments, restful moments, prayerful moments and celebrations as the body of Christ!  It was good to be able to enjoy family, friends and to be in the House of the Lord!

weekend report

If I had to describe this weekend the first words that come to mind are - "a weekend crammed with blessings"!

I found everything about this weekend personally gratifying and found myself thanking the Lord constantly for all He accomplished!  I don't think God could have sent a stronger encouragement to us all as we watched so many first-time attendees attend the Crossroads services, as well as witnessed changed lives as our Elders, staff and friends baptized many people taking their Next Steps for Christ!  So, so good!

I'm counting the weekend as beginning on Friday when we got to go see the amazing Nicole bring the 3 intense weeks of Super Hero Training Academy to an end at John's Park.  The kids enjoyed a bouncy house, snow cone truck and lots of games and snacks ON TOP of their reading improving preparing them to be successful in school this year.  Crossroads' City Center is helping kids!

Miss Nicole my super hero!

A precious little-one from the program!
Also, the City Center does not just serve children - each week our Celebrate Recovery program faithfully serves our community as well!  A very balanced use of our new City Center - part of 20/20!

But, even in what is good for us others are suffering - I began my Saturday by paying my respects at a funeral for a deceased father of one of our dedicated Video volunteers and great friend.  This was an important reminder once again, no matter what we have planned our lives are very short...

Next I stopped at Crossroads as they were finishing the 2,000 Backpack packing that our mission's team organized.  We have the chance to serve large amounts of Mansfield's neediest children by packing school supplies and at Christmas time providing gifts to families that community agencies identify!

The brains and muscle behind most of the opportunities Crossroads has locally, nationally and internationally all begin with Darlene.  She is a gift to Crossroads as she continues to create innovating missional opportunities for our congregation!  Everyone has the chance to be involved with missions!

On Friday Darlene gave instructions to everyone
waiting to sort the backpack supplies!

This is my friend Darlene.  So smart and so
dedicated to make missions come alive at Crossroads!

Anxious, willing volunteers giving their time to pack for needy children!

Next I headed downtown to the Brickyard where "Ballet in the Brickyard" was being set up.  I draw great energy from God's great creativity, with how he gifts people differently, even how He removes every excuse for not knowing Him simply through the creativity He displays in nature.  This scripture is what he showed me to support what we discussed.

Romans 1:19 & 20

The NEOS event in the Brickyard has continued to grow each year and I count it a great privilege that our Crossroads Art Group gets invited each year to be the group working 'live'.   Many of Mansfield's  best artists display their work, but we work live and it's such an opportunity to talk to people!

One of our artists, James,  even did a painting that featured dancers from the NEOS company from photography he did previously - that dancer bought it!  It was so much fun to watch her pleasure at seeing this painting!  We also got to talk to many people that were curious about Crossroads - we had Crossroads cards displayed that they took - even some of our Shelby cards!  We should all be very proud of the level of art our artists create, this group helps me do set design, picture ops for our lobby and various other events throughout the year.

This is where we were set up in front of the License Bureau.
Pam Frederici's gorgeous painting!  I appreciate Pam serving
so faithfully every time I need help - she's very talented and a
good friend!

This was Erin Watson's display - I hope Erin will have the chance to
do more with us in the future! She does beautiful calligraphy!

James Fleeson provided great "Mansfield' art!

This is Lucy - own of our students from Crossroads!
Nothing makes us happier than to see all the generations
working together - older to welcome young and mentoring
them - convincing them of what they can become!  And the
generations above them demonstrating by their very lives how God
affects your life and uses your talents!

This beautiful dance group called NEOS is lead by one of my favorite
local couples!  Bobbie Wesner and his wife.  The ironic thing as I continue to
get to work with them, is my sister and her husband had 1 or both of them
in the youth group they once lead!

Richland Academy's younger dancers also performed Saturday and were outstanding!
This beautiful ballet ending to Saturday will be one I will remember for a long time!

Sunday morning at Crossroads was SO exciting as we greeted many new visitors again!  I talked to one new couple we attended Saturday night and returned on Sunday they were so taken with the strong message and all they experienced in the Lord!   Oh my goodness...so encouraging!

Ernesto leading the team!

After our wonderful services, we worked to prepare final details for our outdoor baptism!
Pastor Dave and the Elders of Crossroads!

Jesse's oldest daughter - baptized by daddy!
Doesn't get any better than that.

One of my good friend Judi, who herself has been through a ton recently,
spoke of a friend whose name she wrote under the carpet at our last Crossroads
location - and now years later, had the privilege of baptizing her precious friend!

My contribution - trying to balance the Rice Krispy Treats while dodging
my dog Vern who was trying to get in the Jeep.

It's a beautiful day when you watch your hubby baptize too!

As I said in the beginning, this was a weekend full of blessings, but also the furthering of God's Kingdom for all of eternity!!

what a week and weekend

We've been moving at hyper speed this past week going into this week before Easter!

Our ministry enjoyed everything from an amazing re-done Student Ministry room to video after video being shot for Easter and the weeks that follow, to life-change celebrated in baptism!  And we have Ernesto back where he belongs too!  So good!

Take a look here!

Ernesto leading us to the throne!

Not sure I love my hubby more than when he baptizes fellow
believers!

As I worked all day Sunday in the back alone
(my glorious happy place!), I listened to the beautiful
music of Easter and prayed over our services!

In the middle of the Easter chaos - our tech guys working with Pastor Mike, mister Greg
and special volunteers - the students rooms was completely re-done!
I love our praise team!

Our talented team lead us well in worship!
Our Tech teams are tucked away either at the back of our
auditorium or in the Video Directing room.  NOTHING
up-front could take place without their dedicated work!

This was just 1 of maybe 5 video shoots that took place this week!

weekend report

My view of the weekend.

Running down hallways with final info about people being baptized.
Talking on walkie talkies.
Rushing into the video booth more times than I have in months!  (Also snagging one of Bob Price's amazing mini cream sticks he brings the tech team whenever he serves!)
Discussing how to save 3 or 4 minutes in the service.
Crying backstage as I send people out to be baptized.
Organizing the group of mom's that send care packages to our college students and college aged military young adults.
Holding a crying little girl who was waiting to go out on stage and be baptized.
Listening to the congregation shout and sing praises to the King witnessing people following the Lord in obedience as they are baptized!
Listening to a challenging message - the first in our Messy Christmas series!

Celebrating again, that this is my job!

A few shots of the weekend.

weekend report

I knew this weekend was going to be special as the praise team gathered around two dad's from our praise & tech teams, laid hands on them and asked the Lord for protection and healing.  Both have kids facing pretty serious surgeries this week.  When the church supports one another and holds each other up in prayer - there is nothing more powerful!!

I was blown away yet again, as we baptized over 20 people this weekend!  The thing that makes this so amazing is, we had a huge outdoor baptism at the end of the summer - so it just confirms the life-change we have the honor of continuing to see the Lord doing at Crossroads!  It was also a huge testimony to the work that is being poured into our youth and pre-teens as they were being taught on the important of baptism.

I always find baptism very moving as people show outwardly what the Lord has done inside of them. But before the service began, a mom of one of the young ladies being baptized walked up to me and said - "Your daughter is baptizing my daughter!", yes, I immediately began to cry - but they were tears of worship, and thankfulness that I get to see my kids lives' mature in the Lord as they pour their life into others!  I have been thanking God for this mom's kind words to me all day!
My daughter baptizing Julia who excepted the Lord
on a mission trip last year!

Then we had the honor of hearing from one of the young men we support that serve fearlessly in a country were persecution is beginning to take place.  He thanked us for our support and for the wells we are providing funds to build and was so happy to worship with us this weekend.

Pastor Dave's continued teaching from Revelation in his 7 Church series was also very stirring as he reminded us that Jesus holds the key - that all we have to do is live faithfully where we are in order to be ready for what the Lord may ask us to do next.   Are we ready to walk through the next door that the Lord puts before us?

The worship was rich as we lifted our voices singing,
Every fear suddenly wiped away here in your presence
All of my gains now fade away
Every crown no longer on display, here in your presence
Heaven is trembling in awe of your wonders
The Kings and the Kingdoms are standing amazed...

Wonderful, Beautiful, Glorious - matchless in every way

And in light of all the uncertainty in our country right now - the words were even more rich as the worship reminded me that all the kingdoms of this world will fall before our God.  Again I say, I have no idea how anyone outside a relationship with Christ lives without constant fear and worry!

weekend report

Well it was another glorious weekend to be in the House of the Lord at Crossroads, as well as outside!!

Pastor Dave wrapped up the Ecclesiastes series teaching us about Solomon's words concerning the vanity of life without God.  So powerful!

I love our worship together as The Church!

The unknown element of the weekend was provided when one of our lay-pastor's families decided they needed to do something connected to flood relief in Louisiana.  So we made a surprise announcement to our congregation that they too could be involved in serving the babies of Louisiana by contributing desperately needed baby items.  And it came piling in as soon as it was announced. We have the privilege of being part of an enormously generous church!

It takes a community to pull-off all the details in these services and events - and everyone steps up to play a part!   The parking lot guys moved from helping at Crossroads to setting everything up at baptism - here waiting for that first car to arrive!  I LOVE serving with these two faithful men!

Our Young Adult (YA) group, is fast becoming a very important
part of our ministry!  So thankful for them too!

Our praise team decked out in the 20 year shirts!  So thankful!

We moved from a powerful time of worship to the beautiful outdoors to baptize 60 people!  Seeing those 60 standing by the lake knowing that this decision represents a changed life, a life determined to follow Christ is nearly overwhelming!  We celebrated as each person entered the water.

Even though each person being baptized was equally exciting - the most powerful to me personally were parents baptizing their children and staff baptizing the students and friends whose lives into which they've invested time and teaching!

I'm not sure anything makes me rejoice more than seeing dad's who are obedient, strong followers of Christ moving their children through phases of spiritual maturity!  There were several dad's who got to baptize their children - 3 of them were staff members and one of our Elders.
Scot, Pastor Dave and Pastor Doug Taylor and sons

Scott VanLou's (Elder) testimony was so moving as he talked about his son and then the fact none of us knew, that his grandfather had been part of the people involved in creating the very lake in which he was baptizing his son!  This kind of story just doesn't randomly happen - God knew who had a story to tell and it was definitely Scott!  So powerful!

Dennis (one of our Crossroads Video Directors), thought he was just attending the baptism - but, joined right in to help us capture shots of this beautiful day!

Thank you to all who served at Crossroads this weekend and at the baptism!
