weekend report

Deering's last weekend with us before heading to Dallas!
Deering's been a faithful friend and valuable part of our ministry!
This weekend could not have been more packed and exciting - except of course for the fact that one of my dearest friends has been called away from Crossroads.

Just take a look at some of the amazingness!

Mission Expo!  Crossroads' partners with 3
foreign mission partners, and 6 local agencies in our community.
Town Square fellowship between services.

A great praise team - a touching added note: 1 of our interns, Ben,
was playing lead guitar with his grandma beside him on flute!
A generational team is a healthy team!

accomplishments? last week

Giving praise for the beautiful, gorgeous, morning.  Especially since I have a few minutes to soak it all in and to sit quietly before the pace of the day kicks in.

The last week has been productive despite a full day at Cedar Point.

Looking back at the week I'm asking myself what was the biggest accomplishment and what was a waste of time?

My biggest accomplishment...hmmmm

I've been sitting here for 15 minutes and I can't decide.

- Praying for our Elders as they prepare to review candidates - for God's eyes and discernment
-a big hug for someone I've been praying for
-Intentional - specific thank-yous to several people that worked really hard on projects
-Expressing my thanks for getting to be part of the leadership team I'm serving on

There were also projects completed and new guests secured for Crossroads - but I feel that the above are more important.

Relationships - building into lives - mentoring those younger then we are, these are what's most important to me...

On the other hand - what did I do that was a waste of time?  It's only fair to honestly evaluate that as well.

-On my computer too much
-Worrying about a couple of issues...the worry didn't accomplish anything beyond saying the the Lord, "I don't trust you - let me handle this!"    A total waste of valuable time - and worrying  of course hurts only me!
-talking too much instead of REALLY listening

It's easier to list the negative instead of the positive.

With the Lord's help - I'll learn through the careful examination of my past my week, moving forward as I anticipate and enjoy the honor of directing the services this weekend @ Crossroads - preparing to say goodbye to one of my best friends - Deering.   I've just about had all the goodbyes I can take!

What did you accomplish this week?

weekend report

I had to miss our Father's Day services this weekend, but I hear Deering Dyer did an amazing job with the Father's Day teaching!  Deering is our Director over Small Groups and House Churches.

And our praise team and tech teams were as excellent as always!  I am so thankful for them all!!

I won't be posting the music we used this week, but I did have the Father's Day video uploaded in which we used 3 generations to shoot our announcements.  Take a look!

my office is fuller

Love it when my office fills up.

Not with work (which is everyday), but, with my family and friends.

Today is Aaron's first full day here and much has already been accomplished! But most of all, to see how happy my daughter and he are together is so precious!

So as I was saying a full office is a sign that something is happening, hopefully that something is being accomplished and that fellowship is a possibility.

I was just sharing today with a new friend, how much I love our staff at Crossroads. How many of us do life together, not just work and how much we support and love one another...

And then I walked out and saw this. I almost went and got Dan Fleming, our worship leader, to begin mouth-to-mouth. We have known for quite some time that our Small Groups guy, Deering Dyer, is just way over worked, but ministry is tough so we all have to just push through some times!

communion

Tonight was a night of communion.

Earlier tonight, Deering Dyer lead us in a great First Wednesday service at Crossroads ending with communion and the congregation coming forward for prayer with our Elders and Staff.

Next we came home to a dark house - living room lined with candles and nearly 20 college students worshiping and sharing communion. I cannot think of anything I would rather have our home used for. This picture shows how the college students used a cutting board and pan to serve the communion cups. The bread was served in another tray.

Communion is such a meaningful - connecting experience. Jesus served communion to those He considered his best friends, his followers, his beloved.

We did this tonight in remembrance of Him because we are His beloved...so amazing!

video shoot meltdown

This morning we shot an impromptu video announcement for the weekend.

Our Small Group Pastor, Deering was the only person doing the speaking. And we got to witness a Pastor melt down as he struggled with the script. (It shouldn't matter that I printed the script off as I ran out the door and he didn't see it until we arrived on site!!)

Shooting videos off site is one of my all time favorite things to do!

You can see the final version this weekend at Crossroads.

our dear deering

Some people are just so easy to tease or take advantage of, such is the case with our dear friend and fellow staff member Deering Dyer. I have been accumulating pictures demonstrating this fact and decided it was time to share...

While he was away - his office was emptied!

Simply because he didn't lock his car (bad mistake) his trunk was emptied!

And taking a break in my office - he should know by now I always have a camera nearby!

Dear Deering, you make us laugh so much!! Thanks for the fun times in the midst of hard work!

Mexican Hat Dance Deering Disaster

We have thematic lunches as a staff the first Wednesday of each month. This month's was Mexican!

The highlight was Deering Dyer, who we affectionately refer to as Dean Deering, since he oversees our Crossroads University Classes and Small Groups.

I would like to leave you with a word of advise, don't ever dance in Flip Flops! Enjoy, I know I did!

don't cheat on God

Those were words from one of my best buddies, Deering Dyer. Deering is our Small Groups Director. God is using Deering in amazing ways at Crossroads. One of the reasons why he is being used I believe is because Deering doesn't feel worthy. What he may not realize is when we feel the most vulnerable, the most out of our element, God steps in big time! This is when we are most usable by God.

Deering taught us tonight on Hosea 9. Tough chapter, tough subject. But God was there and Deering was willing. When Deering explained that Hosea gives us the perfect example of what Christ does for us, it clicked for me big time.

Just as time and time again Hosea had to retrieve his wife Gomer out of a life of sin, so God forgives us over and over. Hosea forgave his sinful wife and provided everything for her, yet she continued to go right back to sin again and again!

Deering challenged us not to 'Cheat on God' by given Him less than our best. I never thought of it that way, but it is so true - God loved us so much He gave us his son, and instead we choose our own sinful desires, again and again. We too are just like Gomer.
