weekend report - Crossroads 20 yr. anniversary

Beautiful fireworks above the church!
After all the planning, and all the work...we were ready!
This past weekend at Crossroads Community Church, was our 20 year anniversary celebration - and celebrate we did!!

But among the celebrating was also a very emotional time, I underestimated how moving it all would be!  Every time someone hugged me, discussed any past memory with me or I saw a past attendee that came back to visit, I cried...

We began our anniversary weekend by celebrating our AMAZING VOLUNTEERS!!  We put on a pancake breakfast to honor 20 years of volunteer hard work!    God brought us every single one of them - and volunteering has always been one of Crossroads most important values!  We will never take them for granted and wanted to show them so!!  It was a lot of fun as the staff served over 200 volunteers!

Two of our worship leaders Dan and Jocelyn serving pancakes!

Pancakes for our volunteers!!

The whole weekend was a curious time of standing with our founding pastor's family - still very close friends and with our current pastor's family - who we've fallen in love with, and I was just overwhelmed by memories colliding with what is yet to come in the Lord!!

Saturday night as we rehearsed and did all of our final technical checks,  we received notices on our phones that a huge storm was coming our way.  This was nerve-racking news given our parking lot was full of food trucks and equipment was ready to be taken outside for our dance party in the parking lot, not to mention FIREWORKS waiting to launch!

But literally as the last note of the final song rang out - the pouring, blowing rain turned to drizzle and dance we did!!   It was one of the most fun 'church parties' I've ever attended - what great memories for our kids and grandkids, a glimpse perhaps of the kind of celebrating David did way back in the Biblical times!!

Our damp dance party - so fun!!
The only casualty was that we couldn't put up the Air Puppet Blowing Guy...not bad!  We fired him on the next morning!  Food trucks stayed for Sunday and we enjoyed 2 more 'fired up' services!!!

I could go on and on, instead I'll post more pictures then I ever have before - enjoy!

A family I LOVE! Modeling our 20 year T-shirts
We had the Barnhill's make us enlargements of the old newspaper
articles and pictures to create a timeline of sorts on the wall.

Brass was so, so very good! Well, possibly with the exception
of that crazy sax guy who came all the way from Florida to play!
John ROCKED the house this weekend!
During rehearsal we had to get some shots using the stabilizer of course!
Dan Fleming is one of the most faithful men I have every met!
He prepared the team and lead us as excellently as ever!  He's
my hero!
Two of my favorite human beings! Both men have made a huge
impact on my life and continue to!!!
Standing ovation and cheering for our amazing founding pastor
Tim Armstrong.
And a standing ovation and crazy cheering for our current
pastor, Dave Vance!!

Get it Shawn amazing bass boy!

The worship this weekend was just indescribable - I'm honestly not sure
I've ever experienced anything like it - I was SO THANKFUL!!!!

We finally got our Air Guy up on Sunday!!
This is a buggy full of ORNARY- Youth Pastors...and head Parking Guy
Both Pastors and wives came to the stage before worship began and prayed!

I loved watching Pastor Dave by looking past my dear friends
the Armstrongs!!
This is my favorite picture of the weekend - both pastor's kids prayed together
while all their parents were on the stage praying...these kids are seriously all too
good to be true!  A testimony to what a God filled home produces!!!

My friends.

Our final element of the day was a lunch with Elders, Staff
and a few of the Core Team members!  So blessed to be part of this!!

I included this picture of my grandbaby in the backseat
at the end of Sunday services because I felt it summed it all up!

weekend report

A beautiful moment of worship
Crossroads is moving through some mighty big changes right now, but the weekend was full of hope and a message from the Lord for all of us delivered by Brian Boone, our new Interim Pastor.

I can't believe how quickly the Lord moved to bring Pastor Brian to us!  It's shameful to ever find myself sitting in doubt or anxiousness when I claim the name of Christ!  He always provides what the church needs, and He already knows exactly who comes next.  This allows me to fully concentrate on my tasks and caring for the flock instead of dwelling on anxious worries- if I let it!

Pastor Brian leading us
This weekend the church raised its voice to a fevered pitch, someone described as 'revival-ish', could it be that a great moving of God's people is beginning to happen at Crossroads?  Does it take the removal of our beloved Pastor Tim for us to put our eyes and prayers fully in the Lord instead of relying on Pastor Tim's abilities?   I don't know how God will chose to move and change us, all I know is the people of Crossroads seem open and willing to let God work, and ready to place their trust fully in Him!

We had a great weekend of worship and teaching - I am so proud of our amazing volunteer teams who step up and serve weekend after weekend - working a full-time job during the week…amazing!

weekend report

I have never been happier to be part of Crossroads than I am right now!  Our congregation has been amazing in the transition of Pastor Tim taking a different position - they seem to come even more anxious to worship!  It's a blessing!

Pastor Jay Halley blessed us by teaching us this weekend - I was so thankful he was able to come from Sandusky to worship with us and worship we did!

weekend report

Goodness…I don't think there could POSSIBLY be more going on at Crossroads this weekend if we tried!  Pastor Tim's wife, Michelle's was on the praise team for the last time this weekend. Michelle helped him begin Crossroads 18 years ago!

The weekend was full of perspective interns visiting from Asbury University, artists working on Easter set design with elementary praise team rehearsing across the hall, and our Cambodia missionaries Aaron and Jocelyn shot a music video that ran during worship with our band…I could go on and on but please allow me to show you some of the weekend instead!

Weekend Report

Well, this weekend there is much reporting to do!

Our Senior Pastor, Tim Armstrong, announced his resignation to answer God's call to another ministry.  He's going to a ministry that desperately needs him!  Our staff surrounded them in the auditorium this weekend to try in a physical way to show our support as a staff.
My view from behind Tim and Michelle

I have never been more proud or committed to my brothers and sisters here at Crossroads.  Together we approached the throne of God - placing our trust in Him - calling on Him to fill our pulpit with the man of God that He has already chosen for us.  How exciting!

Although I have every confidence that the man God brings will be exactly what Crossroads needs right now.  It is on a personal basis that I struggle most.  I love Pastor Tim and his family as if they were my own family - working side-by-side on every service we ever created is just something very difficult to let go of.  My personal prayer now is that God is completely honored in every aspect of our work - while waiting for the man he has chosen for us.  I rest on Him!

Worship was extremely meaningful this weekend as our congregation lifted worship to our Savior!

weekend report

Excellence and simplicity are the words that come to mind in regard to our services this weekend.

Simplicity compared to the Christmas services.  Oh how it was good to be back on a regular schedule and involved in producing this weekend's services at Crossroads!

And excellence describes the quality that our staff and volunteers working together accomplished within the details of the services.

We celebrated communion and worshipped the Lord as one body.  It was awesome!

Pastor Tim began the JOHN series that we've all looked forward to and it was SO GOOD to be in the House of the Lord!

Our Setlist:

Announcements (we produce our announcements on video each week)  This week I invited Hannah Barnhill to be our 'announcement girl' for the first time.  She was excellent!

Financial Year-end report
Our Chairman of the Elder Board, Mike Sloan and our Mansfield Site Pastor, Wendell Anderson gave us a financial update and it was a blessing to hear about God's people's faithfulness this past year at Crossroads.  So good.

weekend report

Our praise team came well prepared, ready to worship and ready to lead the congregation to the throne!

Pastor Tim taught a great message - I heard several people teasing one another about NOT being the kind of person he taught about. They listened.

Following the services I sat and worked for a little while with Steve our Tech Coordinator on a few more Christmas details - we talked about the fact that this will be our 11th Christmas service working together and that we served at several prior to those as volunteers.  A blessing to have such a strong dedicated team!

weekend report

My, my, my how the days go by...

It's Sunday once again and it's been an amazing weekend already.

Pastor Tim is finishing up his 2-weekend mini series on Revelation.  As he taught last night I watched the congregation sit totally engaged at the detail he taught.  To see he personal video of the area where the battle of Armageddon will someday take place made it so much more real and understandable!

Come Lord Jesus COME!

We shortened our worship setlist to accommodate the amount of time he needed to try to teach the whole book in just 2 weekends.

Our setlist:
