4th of July

As my hubby and I sit on our deck watching the birds and deer and taking in the beauty of this morning, I was thinking about what the 4th of July really means to me.
Momma and babies
The freedom we enjoy every single day is unbelievable, perhaps unequaled in the entire world?
That means I got to get up this morning and totally decide what I wanted to do first, how I want to spend my day, who I want to talk to or not to talk to, totally free of anyone telling me what to do next.

Our media is full of 'dooms day' forecasts and bad endings for America but that's up to the Lord. On the day he created me, He knew how and when he'd take me home.  To give up any portion of my life worrying is disrespect for His sovereignty.

So today I choose to breath deeply, taking in every detail I can notice that comes as a result of the great sacrifice of those that came before me.

I can only imagine the horror they witnessed as they watched their best friends fall in battle so that future generations, people totally unknown to them, could sit on their decks like I am - loving my hubby of 39 years and drinking coffee while we freely plan our day.

Thank you to all who had any involvement in giving me this day covered in the celebration of freedom!  Those in the military and those serving honestly in our government - thank you!

Happy 4th of July!

Thank you, Lori, for that eloquent reminder of the sovereignty of God! However, I must say that it is sometimes very difficult to trust God, in that way, when we are enduring a personal trial or struggle. For me personally, (and my family) 2016 & 2017, has been the worst time of our lives (and we still are not out of the woods yet). Never have we been attacked in so many different ways! As my family, looks to me for the answers of "why" all of these things are happening, all I can do is say, "I just don't know", but God will provide; and then I look up to heaven and say, "You will provide God, right?" However, If I am honest, I would have to say, that every day I constantly shift back and forth between, having a confident assurance that God is in control, and HELP me God, do you even know I am here! In either case, God gives us the "freedom" to have doubts.

The freedom we celebrate today, is no different from the freedom we received when Christ died on the cross, in that, both "freedoms" someone had to die to be able to give it away; and when Jesus said, "It is Finished", the "IT" provided freedom from death!

So, Lori, let me join with you as you "breathe deeply, taking in every detail" of this day; and it is with a grateful heart that I acknowledge those who not only died to give me the freedom that I enjoy today, but also Christ, who made the ultimate sacrifice, to give me eternal life!

Lori, thank you for being a leader; I know there will be times, that I will rely on things that I learned by watching you.
